December Members’ Mailshot

Published Categorised as News, President's Pen

Introduction

By now you would have read about yesterday’s breaking news; we have a Camino Maltés de Santiago de Compostela. Something for Malta to be proud of. It also signals the beginning of a lot of work to bring it all to clockwork precision.

I want to thank all of those who have helped in realising this dream. I also want to re-thank all of those involved in the rolling out of the Universal Peace Walk (the walk, the website, the app the guidebook in progress, the waymarks in progress etc.) because they have also greatly contributed to bringing the Camino Maltés to fruition.

December News

Local Walks

Our next walk is on the Wed Walk on the 14th Dec. We meet next to the Domus Romana. You can follow these on the Events tab our website.

If anyone wishes to organise a walk between now and 14th Dec please feel free to do so and post as an event on the XirCammini Group page on Facebook.

Charity Event

Please remember to add a few items to your shopping list and drop off the bag for charity on the 17th December. Drop of points are mentioned in the Event on FB. Besides the drop off points that will be operated between 10:00 and 12:00 noon on the 17th Dec, we will also be collecting bags from those joining us on the walk on the 17th Dec in the afternoon. XirCammini volunteers will then be dropping off the bags at the Bormla Parish Office for distribution in the inner harbour area.

Christmas Drinks

If you have not yet registered, what are you waiting for? 😊 We would like to see you and greet you in this festive season at the XirCammini Christmas drinks on Wednesday 21st December at the San Giusepp Band Club in Zebbug. Please register because we need to provide details to the club who will be preparing finger food. A generous menu of finger food is included in the registration fee of Euros 10. Then we all purchase our own drinks at the bar. Bar prices are very reasonable (forget Paceville, hotel or restaurant prices!)

Press Conference on 9th January, Fort St Angelo: Camino Maltes

The Government of Malta, Malta Tourism Authority, Heritage Malta and XirCammini will be organising a press conference on the launch of the Camino Maltes on 9th January at 17:00 followed by networking. It would be great to see you there, as a show of gentle force of Camino Afficionados. Regrettably, seats are limited, so we will be issuing a registration link on a first-come, first-served basis these being the fairest way to allocate the seats allotted to XirCammini.

Sicilia Mare Neve (e Vino!) 9 – 12th February 2023

A gentle reminder that there are still a few places left on this lovely trekking experience combining coastal trekking with snow-shoe trekking and wine estate hiking (and savouring).

If you are interested please register by following this link. The contribution per person covers all local transport, snowshoes, accommodation and all meals (excluding lunch on the 1st day only).

We look forward to have you with us. Maximum group size is 22 persons and 14 have so far registered.
