Saying yes was one of the best decisions we made for this trip“
Sarah Valdez, USA
I was born and raised in America, but am half Maltese, with both Nanna’s and Nannu’s families from Bingemma Road in Mgarr. I carry my Maltese heritage with immense pride, like a badge of honor, and I was excited to share Malta with my husband and son for the first time. Two years ago, my husband got us to complete the Camino Inglés in Spain, and we had a wonderful time. When he learned that there was a Camino Maltés connected to Santiago de Compostela, he knew we just had to look into it for our upcoming trip. He made contact with James, the founder of XirCammini and Walk.mt, who was very kind in his emails.

James at one point offered to walk with us, and we said, why not have a guide; it might give us a bit more insight into what we are seeing. Saying yes was one of the best decisions we made for this trip. His passion and excitement for Maltese history was contagious and we soaked in his knowledge and appreciated his connections throughout the villages that we visited. My sister joined us on our Camino, and we both agreed that every time we visit Malta, there is something new to do, and this one topped them all. My husband and I are very interested in continuing on our Maltese Camino in Sicily… it might be our next adventure; we will see.
