Programs
Art Exhibition: “It’s in the journey”
Date: 19th – 26th May 2025 | Venue: Malta Postal Museum, Archbishop Street, Valletta

We will have 4 artists exhibiting 16 mixed media paintings on the theme, “It’s in the Journey”. 3 of the artists have walked a Camino in the past and 2 of them have walked several Caminos since 2018.
Find out more about the artists on their respective pages:
The exhibition room will also have a facsimile copy of the 12th century Codex Calixtinus (or Codex Compostellus or Liber Jacobi) attributed to the French Scholar, Aymeric Picaud. The Liber Jacobi, arguably the oldest travelogue in circulation consists of 5 books or encyclopedia for the Jacobean pilgrimage and devotion. This is from a private collection and is not for sale.
Adding a personal touch to the exhibition, a one of the central showcases will contain a selection of sketches, drawings and doodles from Camino de Santiago Journals. The journals kept by Adrian Strickland, a Maltese Camino afficionado and heraldic arms expert, range from 1993-2016 and together with sketches and detailed drawings, record his observations (scenic, heraldic, architectural) along the different routes walked over many years. These are from a private collection and are not for sale.
Decorating the room will be hand-carved, wooden pilgrim poles collected by yet another Camino afficionado on his various Caminos in Spain since 2018.
In addition to the above artists, we also have photographs from 4 pilgrims. These will be exhibited in roll-ups and backgrounds for the various events that we have between the 19th and 26th May in the Valletta and Rabat venues. We would like to thank John Darmanin. Timea Szilagyi, Joseph Farrugia and Eman Azzopardi for their contributions.
The general public and conference delegates can visit the exhibition at their leisure during the week (most overseas delegates are arriving early).
The timings of the Post Museum are: Monday – Friday 10:00 – 16:00 and Saturday 10:00 – 14:00.
