Maghtab | Salina | Burmarrad Route
January 7 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm CET
FreeAs you are probably aware some of the Walking Groups in Malta (Malta Walking Groups) – namely Ramblers Association of Malta, Leisure Ventures, Trekking Malta, Trail Makers and XirCammini – have formed an alliance to uphold and support our common interest in hiking.
From time to time we will also be organising joint walks where members / participants of all the organisations would be welcomed to take part. And what better way to start the new year than to have such a joint walk!
Bernard Schrnz, of Leisure Ventures, will be leading this walk and details are contained in this Facebook link.
Please mark yourselves as going or interested directly on the event.

This trek explores the Maghtab / Salini and Burmarrad area. It is replete with different features including wayside chapels, military installation (amongst which a WWII Pillbox and the il-Widna ‘radar’ system), cart ruts, nature parks, the remains of a megalithic temple, tombs, salt pans and also includes the recently rehabilitated water dams which we also trekked along on one of our earlier treks in October and which we will revist. At the start, we will also be given a short briefing about the ongoing rehabilitation of Malta’s valleys by the Project Green agency. Along the trail, one can enjoy some lovely panoramic views of the Salina area from one of the vantage points along this trek.
After the trek, some bites, soft drinks and water are being provided for the participants. Everyone is free to bring along other items of food and drinks of their choice to share.
