Camino Mariae Melitensis (2 days) (60km walk | Registration required) | Level: Mod | Meeting Place: Cars in Mellieha. Transport to departure point provided | P258

We will be walking the Camino Mariae Melitensis 1432AD (in the footsteps of King Alfonso of Aragon) from Castrum Maris, Birgu via Mdina to the Mellieha Sanctuary. This is a 60km walk and will take place on 17th and 18th February 2024.

The event is over 2 days and we will be sleeping the archbishop’s seminary at tal-Virtu’, Rabat.

This is the first time that this 2-day mini cammino is being held. It also serves as a great training experience for those who intend to walk caminos in Spain or elsewhere.

We’ll park our cars in Mellieha (close to the Sanctuary / church) and depart by coach to Birgu at 07:30 a.m. The intention is to start our walk from outside Castrum Maris (Fort St, Angelo) at 08:30 a.m. and – on the first day – walk to Rabat / Mdina. After sleeping in Mdina / Rabat, we continue on our 2nd day of hiking to the Sanctuary of Our Lady in Mellieha.

The contribution of Euros 48/person covers the

• coach from Mellieha to Birgu,
• accommodation on a bed and simple breakfast basis (accommodation will provide beds with linen/blankets and pillows and most rooms are en-suite). Pilgrims are expected to carry a towel and toiletries.
• A credencial for all those walking the Camino Mariae Melitensis 1432AD and a Testimonium for all those who complete it.
