I first became aware of XirCammini when I visited Malta and met James to learn more about the Camino Maltes. His knowledge, warmth and humor are the reasons I decided to join XirCammini on the Cammino di Sant’Antioco in April, 2026, and I am so glad that I did.
The walk itself was stunning – three days of beautiful views along Sant’Antioco’s coast, and inland through its rocky terrain, with many opportunities to learn about the prehistoric history of the region.
But this wasn’t just a Camino! The trip was planned to coincide with the feast of Sant’Antioco, so every night there were parades and festivities and so much of the local culture to discover.
The trip ended with a wonderful day at sea on a fishing boat, where our lunch was a champagne toast and the catch of the day.
Just as important to the trip was the group itself – I felt fully welcomed by everyone, and enjoyed the many opportunities to share meals and stories. At the same time, no one was tethered together, something I feared taking a group tour. There was the ability to opt in or out of many of the activities, so you could really make the trip your own.
I look forward to more XirCammini trips in the future.
