You will notice that we have only featured one Camino de Santiago in Spain in our 2026 itinerary, when we generally offer more. We are offering the Camino Portugues (Coastal) either entirely on foot or with a Kayaking option.
Walking and Kayaking the Camino Portugues
The Camino Portugues, a popular route of the Camino de Santiago, offers pilgrims a unique blend of walking and cultural immersion. XirCammini is offering the Camino Portugues in June 2026 as(a.) a 1-week and (b.) a 2-week option, alongside (c.) a walking and/or (c.) kayaking component, providing an interesting twist to the traditional pilgrimage experience. This innovative approach allows for greater flexibility and caters to a wider range of preferences, moving beyond the sole focus on walking that characterizes many Camino routes. We also add the heritage, history, and cultural highlights that characterise XirCammini walks.
XirCammini supporting personalised and self-guided Caminos
Individuals, families, small groups of friends and church or voluntary organizations are increasingly seeking self-guided Camino experiences. XirCammini, over the years, has gained the experience necessary from organizing Caminos across Europe and the British Isles. For example, we are now leveraging this strength to manage accommodation, transport, and or baggage transfers for others who seek self-guided options on Caminos both within Spain and potentially beyond. In this way, XirCammini enables pilgrims to concentrate on the spiritual and personal aspects of their journey, unburdened from the practicalities of travel.
