All good things come to an end, but the good memories and friendships stay on.”
R Spiteri | May/June 2025
Last May 2025 I joined Xircammini for another interesting Camino – Camino de Fatima.
All the members in the group were friendly and we had a good time. The lodgings were comfortable and the food was always good and abundant.
The highlights of this Camino were:
Arrival in Lisbon:
- Plaza de Commercial
- The Lisbon Cathedral and it’s Cloister
- The Castelo de S.Jorge

Starting the Camino
- Walking all along the River Tejo enjoying the marshes and the bridges on the way
- Vila Francia de Xira and Jardin Costantino Palha offered a change of scenery and were relaxing.
- Going through the village of Santarem there are many churches and chapels but the most popular one is The Holy Miracle Church
- Entering the grounds of Fatima was majestic and we had enough time to visit the Church, the Shrine and experience the atmosphere

End of the Camino
- The cherry on the cake was a visit to Tomar, Citadel of the Knights Templar – an imposing Castle and Church – where we spent our last afternoon admiring the beauty of it all.
All good things come to an end but the good memories and friendships stay on.
Looking forward to the next Camino….
