It also serves as excellent training for future long-distance hikes or Caminos. \nThe route of the Universal Peace Walk 1543AD® is a carefully curated route that connects several old medieval towns and villages\, including Mdina\, Rabat\, Zebbug\, Siggiewi\, San Niklaw\, Hal Manin (Qrendi)\, Zurrieq (which encompasses Hal Far and Wied Hlantun)\, Bir Miftuh (Gudja)\, Ghaxaq (historically part of Zejtun)\, and Zejtun itself. The Camino Maltes\, on the other hand\, follows the same route but starts earlier\, in Rabat\, and ends later in Fort St Angelo\, Birgu. \nThe Walk Experience \nThe Universal Peace Walk 1543AD is designed to be accessible and convenient for participants. DESCRIPTION:A Jacobean Camino that then connects with Via de la Lana on the Spanish mainland. (20260331R\, Level: Mod) Meeting Place: 2 hours before the flight at the airport \nFollow this link to register for the event. \nThe Mallorcan Way of St. James\, begins at the Lluc Sanctuary (Santuari de Lluc). This monastery is nestled within the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range\, which is the most significant massif on Mallorca. Consequently\, the starting elevation for this journey is approximately 400 meters above sea level. The Virgin of Lluc holds the esteemed title of patron saint of Mallorca\, making the sanctuary one of the island’s most vital religious sites. This spiritual significance is further enhanced by a botanical garden on the premises\, showcasing over 200 distinct plant species native to the Balearic Islands. Thus\, the very essence of nature serves as the initial point of this pilgrimage. The Camino is > 70km long. \nThe path is steeped in Catholic devotion and tales of miracles\, with its very stones narrating the history of Mallorca\, the largest of the Balearic Islands. By the close of the 14th century\, seven stone crosses were erected along the route\, each symbolizing one of the seven miracles attributed to the Virgin and Patron Saint of Mallorca on the island. Tradition holds that a shepherd boy discovered a statue of the Virgin Mary in a cave near the present-day sanctuary in the 13th century. This discovery led to the establishment of the hermitage and later\, the monastery\, which has since become a focal point for pilgrimage and spiritual reflection.
