DESCRIPTION:This event is now fully booked \nThe “2-Day Round Gozo Challenge” is a 53-kilometre hiking event designed for individuals preparing for overseas hiking expeditions such as the Camino\, or those looking to reconnect with fellow hiking enthusiasts\, or simply those who wish to disconnect from the daily hustle and bustle. This challenge offers a unique opportunity to traverse Gozo’s diverse coastal landscapes\, including harbours\, defensive structures\, cliffs\, beaches\, hills\, and valleys. It serves as excellent training for future long-distance walks\, fosters camaraderie\, and allows participants to experience the historical and natural beauty of Gozo. \n\n\n\nThe event is carefully planned to cover the circumference of Gozo over two days in a safe manner. The journey commences at 08:30 a.m. on 21st February 2026 from Mgarr Harbour\, with the initial leg of the walk proceeding towards Hondoq ir-Rummien. The first day’s trek concludes in Marsalforn. XirCammini will arrange one night’s accommodation on a twin-sharing bed and breakfast (B&B) basis for participants. On the second day\, the walk resumes from Marsalforn\, continuing back to Mgarr\, always along Gozo’s scenic coast\, with participants returning to Malta in the evening of 22nd February 2026. \n\n\n\nEvent Details and Logistics\n\n\n\nThe challenge is structured to provide a comprehensive experience of Gozo’s coastal paths. The total distance covered is approximately 53 kilometres\, making it a significant physical undertaking suitable for those with some hiking experience or a desire to build endurance. This year we will be holding at Bar Palazz San Pietru\, B’Bugia \nInner Harbour Charity Event\nDuring the Christmas season we ask our members and friends to think of others less fortunate. We do not collect money. Instead we ask you to set aside Eur 20 and during your weekly shopping you spend the Eur 20 on any of the following categories: \n\nItems of hygiene (i.e. toothpaste\, soap\, shampoo\, deo\, feminine intimate hygiene\, baby nappies etc.)\nItems of food (long durability (i.e. canned food\, dried pasta or rice)\nItems of Christmas confectionary (pannetone\, mince pies etc.)\nItems of long-life drinks/ drink related (UHT milk\, teabags\, coffee\, fruit juices). Journey over land and sea in Malta and Gozo from the Southeast Punic harbour of Marsaxlokk (starting at tas-Silg) to the Northwest village of Gharb (ending at Santwarju ta’ Pinu) on this 3-day Marian Camino. \nThe route commences in Marsaxlokk (Tas-Silg Sanctuary or Pompei Parish church) and continues\, over 2 days\, through Rabat and Mdina to the Sanctuary of Our Lady in Mellieha\, visiting various Marian devotions throughout the ages in Malta. On the 3rd day pilgrims walk from Ghajnsielem (Our Lady of Loreto and Our Lady of Lourdes\, through Qala (Immaculate Conception)\, the Citadel (Santa Maria) towards Ta Pinu Sanctuary in the limits of Gharb. \nWe will park our cars in Mellieha and transport will take us to tas-Silg to commence the Melitae Mariana Camino. \nInterested?
