SUMMARY:A Different Scotland
DESCRIPTION:Highland\, Coastal & Medieval Scotland (20260713R\, Level: Mod) Meeting Place: 2 hours before the flight at the airport. \n \nA Highland and Coastal Scotland\nFollow this link to register for the event \n   \nOur Camino\, stretching from outside the vibrant city of Aberdeen (Cove Bay) to the historic Arbroath Abbey (once dedicated to St. Thomas Becket) offers an unparalleled journey through the heart of Scotland’s stunning northeastern coastline. This captivating camino blends spiritual reflection with an immersive experience of raw natural beauty\, ancient history\, and charming coastal life. Imagine embarking on a path where every turn reveals a new vista: dramatic cliffs plunging into the North Sea\, picturesque fishing villages with their colourful boats bobbing in the harbours or resting on their sides in low tide\, and the haunting silhouettes of centuries-old castles standing sentinel against the elements. This route is not merely a walk; it’s a historical narrative etched into the landscape\, and a spiritual awakening for those who seek it. The crisp air and the scent of salt and heather\, the sounds are a symphony of crashing waves\, or pitter-patter of light rain\, the cries of seabirds\, and the gentle murmur of Scottish accents constantly engage the senses\, promising an unforgettable adventure for pilgrims and hikers alike. \nThis coastal walk is a relatively new\, yet rapidly gaining recognition\, long-distance walking route inspired by ancient pilgrimage paths such as St Ducthac’s\, St. Columba’s and the pilgrimage from the Northeast of Scotland to Abroath Abbey and onward to St. Andrews. While the traditional St. Duthac pilgrimage route historically led to Tain\, this coastal iteration offers a distinct and equally enriching experience. We will begin our journey in Aberdeen Cove Bay\, outside the ancient city renowned for its granite architecture and bustling harbour\, and then winds our way south along the Aberdeenshire and Angus coastlines. The path meanders through a diverse tapestry of landscapes\, from the rugged cliffs of the Aberdeenshire Coastal Path to the sandy beaches and fertile farmlands of Angus\,  promising raw and outstanding natural beauty. \nFlight details \nFor those joining us from Malta\, the suggested flights are: \nMalta to Glasgow FR3744 ( 05:45 – 08:40) on 14th July\, returning to Malta on 20th July from Edinburgh to Malta FR6695 (06:05 – 10:55) \nFor those intending to join us from overseas\, we can meet at either the airport or the appointed accommodation in Scotland. \nNote: XirCammini is a membership-based Camino/hiking association and not a travel agency. Hence\, XirCammini does not book flights. Where applicable\, XirCammini engages Walk.mt Ltd or other licensed travel operators for licensed incoming/outgoing travel agency requirements. \nPrice | Deposit \nApplicants will receive an invoice with the price payable in two instalments (deposit and balance) with dates indicated on the invoice.  The price of this trip covers local airport transfer/transport and daily baggage transfers in the United Kingdom and accommodation on a shared\, twin-room B&B basis (single supplement can be quoted if requested).
