This challenge offers a unique opportunity to traverse Gozo’s diverse coastal landscapes\, including harbours\, defensive structures\, cliffs\, beaches\, hills\, and valleys. It serves as excellent training for future long-distance walks\, fosters camaraderie\, and allows participants to experience the historical and natural beauty of Gozo. \n\n\n\nThe event is carefully planned to cover the circumference of Gozo over two days in a safe manner. The journey commences at 08:30 a.m. on 21st February 2026 from Mgarr Harbour\, with the initial leg of the walk proceeding towards Hondoq ir-Rummien. The first day’s trek concludes in Marsalforn. XirCammini will arrange one night’s accommodation on a twin-sharing bed and breakfast (B&B) basis for participants. On the second day\, the walk resumes from Marsalforn\, continuing back to Mgarr\, always along Gozo’s scenic coast\, with participants returning to Malta in the evening of 22nd February 2026. \n\n\nEvent Details and Logistics\n\n\nThe challenge is structured to provide a comprehensive experience of Gozo’s coastal paths. The total distance covered is approximately 53 kilometres\, making it a significant physical undertaking suitable for those with some hiking experience or a desire to build endurance. DESCRIPTION:Please register by following this link. \nDear all\, \nIt’s that time of year to be merry and also to think more of others. \nInner Harbour Area Charity Event\nAs in previous years we are also collecting goodies for the inner harbour area charity event that we support each year. We will collect these from you during this event on 15th Dec to deliver to the Bormla Parish on 17th December. This is an initiative driven by John Darmanin. Thank you John. \nHow does the Charity Event Work?\nWe do not collect money. We ask each of you (this is entirely voluntary) to set aside + – Eur20 and you use them to purchase some items\, typically 1 item of babyware (i.e. bag of nappies? baby bath-products?)\, 1 item of sanitary-ware (i.e. soap\, talcum powder\, shampoo or sanitary pads for young adoloscents) and an item or two of non-parishable food (i.e. a few tins of food or packets of e.g. UHT milk or juice). Please avoid perishables as well as e.g. pasta and rice due to weavil. \nThen on the 15th Dec (or ask us to collect them before if you cannot join us on the 15th Dec) we collect the bag of goodies from you. Volunteers from XirCammini will deliver them on the 17th Dec to the Bormla Parish Group volunteers to distribute them to families in need in the Inner Harbour Area. \nIf any one can help us deliver the bags to the Bormla Parish Group on the 17th Dec evening please contact John Darmanin directly. \nWalk & Kazinata on the 15th Dec\nOn the 15th Dec we will meet in Zurrieq at 09:00 a.m. next to the Golden statue of Sta. DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT IS NOW CLOSED \n12th March 2023 will be the 480th Anniverary of the Universal Peace Walk 1543AD. It will also mark the launch of the Malta segment of the first Camino Maltés. \nWe will be offering both walks i.e. \n\n The Universal Peace Walk 1543AD is a 28km walk. This is a historic walk from Citta Notabile (Mdina) to Le Terre di Santa Caterina (Zejtun); or\nThe Camino Maltés is a 34km walk from St Paul’s Catacombs / St Paul’s Grotto\, Rabat to Fort St. Angelo.\n\nThis is the itinerary: \n\nFor those intending to walk the Camino Maltés: 07:00 a.m coach pick-up from Birgu for an 08:15 Camino Start in Rabat\nFor those intending to walk the Universal Peace Walk 1543AD: 07:30 a.m. coach Pick up from Zejtun for an 08:30 a.m. Start from Mdina\n08:00a.m.: Camino Maltés starts from Rabat\n08:30 a.m.: Universal Peace Walk 1543AD starts from Cathedral Square Mdina when the Camino Maltés pilgrims arrive.\nAllow time for lunch in Zurrieq\, we should be able to make it to Zejtun by 16:00 and Fort St Angelo by 17:30.\n\nWe park our cars in Birgu  (near Fort St. Angelo or Zejtun (near St. Gregory’s church) at 06:45 a.m. or 07:15 respectively and coach transport will take us to Rabat or Mdina leaving Fort St. Angelo or Zejtun for Mdina at 07:00 or 07:30 a.m. respectively. For those not requiring transport\, we meet outside St Paul’s Catacombs or Mdina Cathedral Square for a 08:00 a.m or 08:30 a.m. start. \nA non-refundable deposit of €5 – €10 is requested to reserve your place. If you wish to walk with us and get a certificate then the contribution would be €5. If\, in addition to this\, you also require transport from Birgu or Zejtun to Mdina in the morning. then the total contribution increases to €10 to cover transport. Santiago de Compostela credencials will also be available for Euros 2 each. \nAll pilgrims on either walk will be given a Universal Peace Walk 1543AD guiddebook with an incorporated credencial. \nREGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT IS NOW CLOSED.
